What We Do
The Samaritans of FR/NB, Inc provides a free and confidential Suicide Prevention and Crisis Hot Line staffed by caring, trained volunteers available seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. This service provides unprejudiced and nonjudgmental support to those who are alone, depressed or in crisis. Anyone can find a caring empathetic ear at The Samaritans.
Samaritans befriend the callers. Samaritans are empathetic listeners, whether for a person who calls one time or for another who needs to call back until their situation is improved.
Samaritans DO NOT advise, counsel or diagnose. They DO, however, help the caller to explore options not thought of by the caller.
Who We Are
The Samaritans is a non-religious charity, which provides confidential emotional support to any person who is lonely, depressed, or suicidal.
Services are offered to the communities of Greater Fall River and Greater New Bedford. Samaritans befriend people in crisis and educate the public about suicide awareness and suicide prevention strategies.
